Commercial Director


The Nod is an innovative, fast and affordable Creative Testing platform. Disrupting the research industry, our high-growth software business is helping Brands, Agencies and Media-owners alike change the way they assess Marketing success. It’s simple really, we answer the age-old question, “Is it the creative or the placement?”. A brain-child of our established Market Research Consultancy, Rare:, The Nod launched in September 2018, after robust user-testing and development. We’re now looking to supplement our Leadership Team with a Commercial Director, who will head-up our growth efforts by driving our new business pipeline, as well as nurturing the retention of existing customers. This unique opportunity offers the successful candidate the chance to influence the commercial direction of the platform’s development, as well as grow a number of teams from the ground-up, including New Business, Retention and Technical Support.


We are a small team of researchers, developers, marketing strategists and consultants but the team is quickly growing!

This unique opportunity offers the successful candidate the chance to influence the commercial direction of the platform’s development, as well as grow and lead their own teams. The candidate will sit in the heart of the business working with clients, the team and senior leadership, helping to shape our future. The role requires a unique blend of skills, including commercial strategy, team planning and, most importantly, sales. The candidate would be working directly with the Managing Director to develop our existing product offering and with clients to identify the problems they need to solve. We’re not just looking for someone with significant proven new business experience, but with a proactive approach to revenue growth. We are looking for someone who wants to take a step-up in their career, get stuck in and be pivotal to the growth of the business.

We work with clients of all sizes across all industries - from startups and agencies, to large Retail brands, financial services, entertainment, charities and name a few. The candidate will need to be comfortable adapting to different sector topics and industries.


  • Drive business growth through new business

  • Ensure high levels of existing customer retention

  • Build self-funded teams, including new business, retention and technical support

  • Develop go-to-market sales strategy for new product propositions

  • Work with the Managing Director to develop long-term business growth strategy

  • Support Managing Director with defining the product offering roadmap

  • Maximise networking opportunities/attend events and trade shows

  • Keep up-to-date with developments in the research industry


  • You’re a target driven individual

  • Must have experience in face-to-face business development

  • Highly skilled in dealing with a variety of senior client stakeholders, including C-suite

  • Experience within the marketing/media industry

  • Strong network from previous roles

  • An excellent communicator

  • Enjoy working collaboratively with our core team, clients and partners

  • Ability to work in a very very fast paced environment

  • Able to muck in at all times/think on your feet

  • Able to work autonomously and problem solve

  • You are excited by challenges and have a can do attitude


  • Generous basic salary (DoE), plus commission

  • OTE £80,000+ pa

  • £750/ year training bursary - do anything you like, we won’t ask!

  • 25 days holiday, excluding bank holidays, oh and you also get your birthday off!

  • London based, flexible working

This is a newly created role so would ideally suit someone that has worked in a start-up or SME/high growth environment. We are offering a competitive salary with performance related pay (aligned to individual project and overall business growth), so the more we win, the more you do too!
